Sweet teeth.

The day before Valentine's Day, Zachary and my family happened to both be out of town. My soul had the greatest urge to create something, and in honor of the holiday, create something that would show my loved ones my appreciation for them. My wonderful cousin, Sarah, was hangin' out with me that night and she happened to have an amazing cake recipe book with her. I explored all of the pages, from start to finish, and decided to embark on creating my first "event worthy" cake. She and I went to the store and bought all of the ingredients for our completely homemade two-layered vanilla cake with strawberry whipped cream frosting. The cake took something like four hours until it was fully completed, but it was absolutely and entirely worth the effort!

Zac and I were planning on going on a dinner picnic to celebrate the next day. He is an incredible cook and I adore baking treats for dessert, so we had decided that we were going to stick to our specialties and surprise the other. I immediately went online to Martha Stewert's sensationally creative recipe ideas, where I found a delectable recipe for chocolate heart-shaped cookies with strawberry ice cream sandwiched in the middle. These made for the perfect picnic dessert and Zac very much appreciated and devoured every last one.
